What is a diet? A diet is any food plan which stipulates what foods you should and shouldn’t eat and/or how much you should or shouldn’t eat. A low carb diet food plan is an example.
Some diets give you menus to follow. Some tell you how to combine foods. Many list specific foods that are not allowed on the diet. Some will even tell you what time of the day is appropriate to eat certain foods. A diet typically has little to no flexibility.
Most diets
- eliminate some foods completely, typically foods you like.
- tend to be rigid with very specific rules you must follow.
So what is a diet? It’s a rigid set of rules that eliminates food you like and generally causes displeasure, leading eventually to regaining the weight you lost. Doesn’t sound very appealing, does it? In fact, psychologically, it deprives you- having other ramifications. So its not surprising that 90% of diets fail. If most diets fail and we still want to lose weight, what should we do? Check out my post on what is an effective food plan and nutrition made easy?
